Ferme du Mont Benault 2023 VDF Pierres Bleues

Stephane Rocher's 2023 "Les Pierres Bleues" is a superb Chenin Blanc from 70 year-old vines, grown on blue basalt "splite" soils. Meticulous organic farming, careful harvesting, aging in tank and sandstone jarres with minimal SO2. Very pale gold color, subtle aromas of citrus confit, verbena, pear, white flowers, flint, really quite unique. The palate is beautifully round and sapid with ripe pear, heirloom apple and intense mineral flavors perfectly framed with saline acidity. Elegant long finish. Enjoy now with grilled halibut, a full-flavored ceviche, white asparagus. Cellar for five to fifteen years, superb wine! David Lillie
