Ferme du Mont Benault 2023 VDF Pièce du Saule

Stéphane Rocher's 2023 "La Pièce du Saule" is from 70 year-old Chenin Blanc vines grown on volcanic "rhyolite" soils, also found in Richard Leroy's vineyard "les Noels de Montbenault." Organic farming, one year aging in tank and sandstone jarres, minimal SO2. Opulent aromas of ripe citrus, quince, white peach and stone. The opulence continues on the palate with exotic fruit, ripe apple and peach joined by equally intense mineral and earth flavors that continue in the round very long finish. Delicious now but really needs time and will be singing in 10 years. Serve with grilled lobster, halibut, monkfish, asperagus. Beautiful wine and an amazing value! David Lillie
