Cady 2023 Coteaux du Layon

The 2023 Cady Coteaux du Layon is from vines on schist soils just above the Layon river in Saint-Aubin de Luigné. The Chenin Blanc grapes were picked in successive tries in October, the wine finished at about 80 grams/liter of residual sugar. 50% botrytised grapes and 50% at the raisins dorés stage. This is really lovely for an "entry-level" Coteau du Layon showing a bright gold color and very floral aromas of honeyed yellow fruits, citrus, beeswax, pear and earth. The palate is silky and bright, carrying the 80 gr/l of RS in a very elegant frame with flavors of earth, citrus and white fruits in the long and balanced finish. Lovely wine and a great value!
