Stunning Wines from Domaine Sirugue-Noellat
8/17/26 -

I have been a fan of the wines of Arnaud Sirugue and Sophie Noellat for a handful of years now. I was first introduced to them by their importer, Bertrand, when they just made a Passetoutgrain Rosé (from Vosne-Romanée) and Vosne-Romanée Les Barreaux. Those two wines were fantastic, I have poured that rosé by the glass in the past, and even sent an email out last summer highlighting the impressive pink drink. But the release of their 2023 wines is incredibly special. Between inheriting vines from their families and some changes within the Vosne AOC, Arnaud and Sophie now have an impressive lineup of many more wines! To say I was excited for their arrival is an understatement; I was anything but patient as I reached out to our rep Tyger for weeks wondering when they would be in New York. I can gladly say that they have now arrived and after tasting them last week, I cannot contain my excitement for how fantastic these wines are.
The couple represents the 5th and 6th generations respectively of vignerons from historic Vosne-Romanee families: Arnaud Sirugue of Domaine Robert Sirugue and Sophie Noellat of Domaine Michel Noellat. After the two married, they created their eponymous estate
in 2016 with just 2 wines. Today I am thrilled to be able to showcase those two wines alongside two entry-level wines, two more village Vosne-Romanée, plus Premier Cru Petit-Monts, and Grands Echezeaux Grand Cru.

2024 Passetoutgrain Rosé is a blend of Pinot Noir and Gamay from just outside Vosne-Romanée. The wine has beautiful, bright notes of raspberry and wild strawberry. Full of juicy fruit with a touch of rose petal. This is a truly stunning rosé aromatically, and is the definition of easy drinking.
2023 Bourgogne Passetoutgrain is a blend of Pinot Noir with about 15-20% Gamay from the plateau below Vosne-Romanée. Grapes are destemmed and vinified with no oak. It is bright, fresh, and lifted with notes of cherry and strawberry with a touch of earth tones and florals. The acid is really fantastic and kept me going back for more!
2023 Bourgogne Cote d'Or Pinot Noir is sourced from the lieu-dits Les Champs d'Argent, Les Combes, and Les Clos Prieur. Grapes are fully destemmed and aged for 12 months in neutral oak. The fruit here is a touch darker than the Passetoutgrain with black cherry and cranberry. It is very concentrated with flavor and drinks beautifully smooth with a lifted finish.
2023 Vosne-Romanée Harmonie comes from the lieu-dits Aux Reas, La Croix Blanche, Bossieres, Les Chanlandins, and Les Barreaux consisting of some younger vines. The wine is made with 50% Whole Cluster and is aged for 14-16 months in 25% new French Oak. There are beautiful bright red berries like strawberry and raspberry with spiced undertones. It is incredibly smooth and simply delicious!
2023 Vosne-Romanée Vieilles Vignes is a blend from the lieu-dits Les Violettes, Portefeuilles, Murailles du Clos, Maizieres Hautes & Basses, Les Jacquines. These sites border the Clos des Vougeot providing an amazing cross section of this corner of Vosne-Romanee. The Vines are around 70 years old giving amazing concentration. Made with 50% whole cluster and aged for 14-16 months in 40% new French oak. There's a bump up in concentration here from the Harmonie with earth and spice coming before fruit. The wine has excellent balance of elegance with power still that will drink well now and age for years to come!
2023 Vosne-Romanée Les Barreaux is an impeccable lieu-dit that sits directly up the slope from 1er Crus Cros Parantoux and Petits Monts. Soils here are sand, gravel, with some limestone. Vines are 50-60 years old and the wine is made 50% whole cluster and aged 14-16 months in 30% new French oak. The wine is super concentrated with notes of five spice, ripe black cherry, and cranberry. It is generous and lively with amazing acidity and energy. Simply delicious.
2023 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Petit Monts sits directly up the slope from Grand Cru Richebourg and directly between the Premier Crus Aux Raignots and Cros Parantoux. It is around 330 meters up on the slope and provides excellent exposure for ripeness. Soils here are a rocky mix of clay and limestone with a solid limestone base layer. The wine was made with 50% whole cluster and was aged for 14-16 months in 50% New French oak.
2023 Grands-Echezeaux Grand Cru is situated on a gentle slope between 250-300 meters. The soils are well-drained clay-limestone. Known for making exceptional, age-worthy wines, I would recommend allowing this wine plenty of time in the cellar. It was made with 50% whole cluster and aged for 14-16 months in New French Oak.
Whether you are looking to stock your cellar with exceptional age-worthy Red Burgundies or just some tasty rosé and Passetoutgrain to sip on this summer and fall, there is something here for everyone!
