Crazy Low Prices on Cossard Bourgogne Blanc!
7/17/25 -
Not only is today's offer one of the best deals on white Burgundy we have found in a while, but I believe that this should appeal to more than just Burgundy drinkers. Frédéric Cossard's Bourgogne Blanc has a very lean, crisp, refreshing style with beautiful minerality and notes of grapefruit and lemon zest. It concludes with a long, salty finish. This wine just kept getting better with air as I drank through a glass. As the days feel like they just keep getting hotter, allow this energetic wine to cool you down. For additional context, the vines for this wine are 40 years old planted on clay and limestone soils near the village of Puligny. The grapes are pressed directly to concrete eggs for a year of aging on the lees until bottling. What sounds quite simple truly requires incredible attention to detail since with this level of natural winemaking there is very little to hide behind.
Frédéric Cossard has been a champion of organic farming in Burgundy since the 1990s. He was not born into a family of winemakers and therefore had to start from scratch. This began in 1996 with both Domaine de Chassorney and his négociant bottling under the eponymous "Frédéric Cossard." In 2021 he sold all of Domaine de Chassorney to Aurélien Verdet in order to focus on his negociant work. Since its inception, Frédéric has worked directly with growers to maintain the high standard of grapes needed for his wines. These relationships are fostered on trust and consistency and the quality does not go unnoticed. Natural wine in Burgundy was fairly rare when Frédéric began his winemaking career but today it is quite the opposite. Well ahead of what we think of today as the "new wave" of Burgundy, Cossard helped to pave the way for natural wine in a region deeply rooted in tradition.
We are grabbing as much of this wine as we can so in turn you can too!
