Domaine Tabordet is Back!
We're very happy to have the superb Pouilly-Fumés and Sancerre from Domaine Tabordet back in the store - they offer exceptional quality and value for all your fall and end of year festivities! Today and Sunday only with a Tariff Busting discount of 15% per bottle!!
The domain is certified organic and Biodynamic (Demeter). Vinifications are done naturally without added sulfur or enzymes, fermentations rely on indigenous yeasts that are unique to each terroir and overall sulfur use is minimal. The wines are balanced and bright with beautiful purity of fruit and superb terroir expression.
The delicious 2024 Tabordet Pouilly-Fumé "Domaine" comes from vines on the three main terroirs of Pouilly-Fumé: in the commune of Villiers, on "Calcaire de Villiers," an Oxfordian limestone that degrades on the surface to large flat "caillottes," or fragments of the limestone; in Saint-Laurent-L'Abbaye on Kimmeridgian marls ("terres blanches" or technically "Marnes et Calcaires à Nanogyra Virgula") with the associated oyster shells; and also in Saint-Laurent, on beds of flint or silex (a sedimentary crystalline form of quartz, laid down in association with limestone) which now lies above the older Kimmeridgian bedrock. Thus this lovely wine includes the more forward fruit of the calcaire soils, the citrusy aromatics and fine texture from flint and the complexity and structure from the Kimmeridgian terroir.
In other words it's delicious and it's a sensational value!
We're also happy to introduce two new Tabordet Pouilly-Fumés, the superb 2022 "L'Autre Rive," a special bottling from all silex soils and the 2023 "Petites Aubues" from a pure limestone terroir showing beautiful ripeness and density. Both will drink well over the next 5 years! And the delicious 2023 Tabordet Sancerre is back, with 2024 on the way.
While we're in Sancerre, our small allocation from Domaine Thomas-Labaille in Chavignol has just arrived, including a whopping 12 bottles of the famous Cuvée Buster!
Downstream, from the land of Chenin, we find a new shipment of the delicious François and Julien Pinon 2022 Vouvray Sec - drink now or in 20 years, along with the 2022 Buvez du Bon Pinon and the better-than-most-Champagnes 2020 Vouvray Brut Non-Dosé!
From across the river in Montlouis, we have late arrivals from Lise and Bertrand at Domaine Jousset - the 2019 Montlouis "Version Longue" (Magnums) and the 2022 Montlouis "Version Longue" - these are gorgeous Chenins that received 24 months of additional aging before release giving the wines an extra layer of density and complexity of flavors

News From Nantes:
The delicious 2023 Domaine de la Pepiere "Pepie" is almost gone! The estate made very little wine in 2024 - we'll have a very small allocation, including only 60 btls of the "Briords Vieilles Vignes." Grab some today!
Our friend Jo Landron made a superb "Le Fief du Breil" in 2020 - this is one of our favorite Muscadets - elegant, complex and enjoyable young or after 10 to 15 years of aging. Don't miss it! And if you haven't tried it, Jo's 2021 "Les Houx" is a beautiful mouthful of minerals at a reasonable price.
