Salvano, Walter 2024 Langhe Freisa

While this is a playful light bodied red, it's far from simple. Deeply floral spice like nutmeg and cardamom jump out first, but is supported by tons of red fruit and the whole thing is framed with lovely fine grit tannins. A short maceration and 100% whole cluster. The vines here are 45 years old in Diano d'Abla and are farmed sustainably.

Walter is a young winemaker with a focus on the lesser appreciated grapes of the Langhe like this Freisa, as well as Pelaverga, Nascetta and Barbera. He always does whole cluster fermentations, never filters, and used minimal sulfur at bottling.
