While this drinks very much like a Lambrusco and looks very much like a Lambrusco, it is technically not! A blend of Barbera and Bonarda are the typical grapes for this style of Sparkling red in Piacenza, Emilia-Romagna. Barbera brings a bit of inky, earthy, soily notes to the party and Bonarda brings berry notes and a velvety texture. If you are a fan of earthy Loire Valley Cab Franc, give this wine a try!
