Monteraponi 2023 Chianti Classico
Michele Braganti and Alessandra Deiana are farming their 13 hectares organically on the southern end of Radda, Chianti. Due to the challenging 2023 growing season, they decided to blend all of their top parcels into this one wine. The blend is mostly Sangiovese with a splash of Canaiolo, and it spends 16 months in large, old, Slavonian oak. It radiates with sour cherry, incense, dried flowers and a distinctly salty, seashell-y, and savory finish making this wine a natural pairing for seared steak, ragu alla bolognese, or lamb. I could even see this working with a tomato based seafood stew because of the delicate tannins and marine quality to the wine.
