Korteta Cuvee comes from a single vineyard on mostly clay-calcareous soil in Artazu, Navarra. The half-hactare of bush-vines is never treated with any herbicides or pesticides; only sulfur and low doses of copper. The blend is comprised of 50% Garnacha, 30% Moristel, 17% Tempranillo and 3% Viura. After destemming 20% of the grapes, the wine undergoes wild fermentation in stainless steel before aging for a year in blend of used French oak, 54L demijohn and clay amphora. I found the fruit and tannin somewhat ripe compared with the rest of the Moya Tortosa lineup, which can veer towards the austere side of things, though it still delivers the fresher, lifted, aromatic and acid driven style I've come to associate with these wines.
