Saumon, Frantz 2023 Mineral Plus

This is 100% Chenin Blanc from several of Frantz's parcels in Montlouis, done in neutral barrels. It's always a standout Chenin and the 2023 is no exception, with a weightless purity enveloping a strong mineral core and profound texture. It starts off a bit shy but opens up with some air, showing subtle fruit and some spice on the finish backended by perfectly balanced acidity. It's a great wine to enjoy now but could improve further with a year or two in the bottle, if not more. It has all of Frantz's stylistic energy--textured, mineral, pure and oh so fresh.
