Belliviere 2022 Coteaux du Loir L'Effraie

"L'Effraie" is from Bellivière's younger Coteaux du Loir vines, across 11 parcels totaling 3.5 hectares. These gobelet-pruned, 10-50 year-old vines are planted on flinty, sandy clay soils over tuffeau (soft limestone), are certified-biodynamic. "The aromatics entice with nuances of crushed minerals, smoke and peach skin. This is followed by a gorgeously textured palate, with a rich core of ripe fruit set in a plush and velvety frame, with streaks of honeysuckle and apricot, underpinned by a lovely grip and decent acidity for the vintage. This is delicious. The residual sugar is a rather polished 18 g/l, and the alcohol on the label is 12.5%." (Wine Doctor Feb 2025)
