Vinyer de la Ruca 2023 Elio

Elio is the iconic damijon style bottle from Vinyer de la Ruca. 300 bottles produced from Manuel's steepest vineyard in Banyuls-sur-Mer. The blend is majority Grenache, with about 25% Mourvedre. Grapes are placed, whole cluster, in a large circular wooden press and foot-stomped. Stems are removed by hand one day later, and after 3-4 days the fruit is pressed and the wine ferments and ages in old (10-20 year-old) used barrels that Manuel gets from Sebastien Bobinet in the Loire Valley. There is a purity and clarity to the wine, with blackberries and fresh soil on the nose, delicate tannins and immaculate balance. A singular wine!
