Carette, Robin 2025 Redrum

This is an electric Pineau d'Aunis consisting of two-thirds estate fruit (younger vines planted in 2022) and one third purchased fruit from 50 year old vines in Martigné-Briand. The grapes are destemmed and see seven days maceration. It's a bit reductive and austere when opened but with aeration, even a few days open, it blossoms into a lovely wine, light and juicy with very floral, berry aromas with a beautiful, subtle palate of red fruits that linger in the long sapid finish.  A classic style of Pineau d'Aunis without too much extraction. Just a kiss of tannins and racy acidity make it a perfect accompaniment to tapas or cheese and charcuterie, but it is endlessly drinkable on its own.
