Berry-Althoff 2024 IGP Gard Menhir

This is 100% Grenache on limestone from their estate vines in Aubais, planted in 1971. Grapes are destemmed and infused for one week, then aged 16 months in concrete eggs and neutral french oak barrels followed by 4 months in stainless steel tank. It's a beautiful expression of Grenache that's light enough to enjoy chilled, but has some crunchy red fruit and very subtle tannins along with some spice on the back end that all contribute to its complexity and overall depth. A versatile pairing wine that can be enjoyed on its own or with food, it should hold nicely over the next five years and could develop further with some time.
