Berry-Althoff 2022 Vin de France Garmatcha

This is a deeper, more structured Grenache from the Roussillon area of French Catalonia. The soils are granite and vines are farmed organically. The grapes are destemmed and macerated for 16 days before aging 12 months in 400L French oak barrels followed by 4 months in stainless steel tanks. This is a structured, powerful Grenache with red currant and cherry fruit, lifted by bright acidity and crunchy tannins. It's a layered and complex wine that evolves in the glass, and would be a good candidate for medium-term aging. Enjoy now with a decant or hold 5-10 years, this would be an ideal accompaniment to roast pork, grilled meats, or hard cheeses.
