Bellivière 2022 Jasnières "Les Rosiers"
The Nicolas family is crafting unique, chiseled Chenins from the terroirs of silex, sand clay over tuffeau in the little valley of the Loir, 40 miles north of the more famous Loire with "e". Within a couple of miles, they grow this grape over 2 appellations and 10 different variations of soils, leading to multiple cuvées. Les Rosiers is made from multiple plots of up to 50 year-old vines in Jasnières. It is always one of the broadest Chenins they produce due to the terroir. The 2022 vintage brought a beautifully ripe "Les Rosiers" with 7 grams/liter of RS - dry but opulent - "I like the fragrant aromatics here, all white peach, mint and acacia. The palate feels cool and nicely formed...displaying the generosity of the vintage, and in keeping with this it shows a charming phenolic grip which compensates for its modest acidity. A touch of bitterness which appeals in the finish." (Wine Doctor) Drink this gorgeous Chenin over the next 10 to 15 years.
