Terrazzi Alti 2021 Valtellina Superiore Sassella Riserva

This riserva comes from Chiavannesca grapes selected from a tiny plot sitting at 600 meters in altitude. For this wine, which is only made in appropriate vintages, the Buzzetti's forego the 2000-liter botti in favor of 600-liter tonneau. With more persistent tannins, this bottling is a great achievement in balance and character. The nose is still indicative of rose petals, and bright raspberries are apparent on the palate, but a distinctive minerality ties all of these elements together, yielding a wine that is both great now but a sure bet for long-term ageing.
