Bodega Hermanos Mesa 2022 La Choza del Cabrero Tenerife Valle de Guimar

La Choza comes from a 0.6 hectare plot of 60-70 year old, own-rooted vines of Listan Blanco on Mount Teide at 1300 meters altitude. After fermenting with native yeasts, three quarters of the wine spends 9 months in 500-liter French oak, the rest in stainless steel for the same amount of time. The 1/4 in steel undergoes a short maceration with stems and skins, which lends texture without yielding an 'orange' wine. The wine is unfined, unfiltered, and bottled with a minimal addition of sulfur. Subtle reduction compliments the nose as opposed to dominating it, and the wine shows almonds, brine, and bright citrus with a very elegant palate.
