Ferme du Mont Benault 2025 Petits Cailloux Rouge

The 2025 Petits Cailloux Rouze is a delightful Anjou red made by the talented Stéphane Rocher at La Ferme du Mont Benault in Faye D'Anjou. Grolleau, Cabernet Franc and Pineau D'Aunis grown on red schist soils, 40% carbonic maceration, 60% direct press and 100% delicious. Brilliant, bright ged/garnet color. The nose is a beautiful melange of berry fruits, the palate is light but juicy and full of red currant/berry fruits, sapid and vibrant, with darker fruits, licorice and earth showing up in the long, refreshing finish with a nice bitterness from the red schist soils. The French would say "gouleyant," google translate says "fresh, light, smooth and particularly easy to swallow!" (Very low SO2 and about 11.5% alcohol) David Lillie
