Rhône New Arrivals: Rousset, Saint Théodoric, Charvin & More...

12/23/25 -

I apologize for the brevity of today's email, but it turns out that entertaining grand-kids and getting work done are mutually exclusive!
At any rate, today's Rhône new arrivals offer contains some truly great wines!! And with  a 15% discount today only, hoping to get your attention in the pre-holiday rush.

We lead off with the superb Crozes-Hermitages from Stéphane Rousset.  We have a small allocation of the extraordinary 2023 "Les Picaudières," from a steep terraced vineyard, rivaling  Hermitage in quality - it's perhaps the best value in the Northern Rhône. The wonderful 2024 Crozes-Hermitage Marsanne Vieilles Vignes is a unique and beautiful wine that deserves your attention along with the 2023 Saint-Joseph and the 2023 Crozes-Hermitage Blanc.

Châteauneuf-du-Pape
We're proud to offer 2022 and 2023s from three of the very finest estates: Saint Théodoric, Domaine Charvin and Domaine Pierre André as well as a superb value from the organic/Biodynamic Domaine Lafond. (Please note: the Saint Théodoric "Les Sablons," from younger vines and not made in every vintage, offers the same elegance and freshness from the sandy/clay soils as "Le Grand Pin" and "la Guigasse" at a more moderate price. The 2014 was particularly delicious...)

(Pictured above: In the distance the Hermitage hill to the left, across the Rhone are Tournon and St Jean de Muzols, seen from the Rousset hillside vineyards in Erome. "Les Picaudières is on a steeper terraced hill just to the east.)

Gigondas
The brilliant organic wines of the Clos du Joncuas are back, including new releases from 2016 and 2017. These are complex, full-bodied traditional Gigondas, from great farming, fermented with whole-clusters, and aged in cement or foudres. Drink the 2016 and 2017 now or in ten years, and enjoy the more forward 2022 until 2035 - 2040. The 2023 Vacqueyras is one of the best wines of this under-appreciated region, and is a great value. Don't overlook the beautiful 2024 Gigondas Rosé which will drink beautifully over the next three years.

Tavel
Domaine Lafond is "a leading edge domaine at Tavel" says Drink Rhone, organic since 2012 and now Biodynamic. We retasted the 2024 Tavel Roc-Epine a few days ago which is beginning to open up and is drinking sensationally with deep berry flavors and a full supple palate with terrific length. Enjoy now and over the next two to three years. Ridiculous price!
