Provence on Sale - And Our Favorite Real Rosés!

7/18/26 -

For the first time in our history, our second shipment from Domaine les Fouques in Provence (Cotes de Provence La Londe) has arrived in time for the end of Summer and we'll have stock through August! On the same boat is our yearly order from Domaine Turenne, east of Bandol in Cotes de Provence Pierrefeu.

Domaine Les Fouques is located in a lovely hidden valley a few miles north of the Mediterranean, the Vallons des Borrels -  the vines are on hillsides below wild-boar infested forests - a diverse and wild environment. The vineyard shares the farm with free-range organic-raised birds - ducks, geese and guinea hens that fertilize the vines with a little help from a flock of sheep. The estate has been organic and Biodynamic since 1991! The Les Fouques wines are among the very finest of Provence, with a level of subtlety, complexity and minerality that sets them apart, making them both refreshing to sip by themselves or to pair with salads, fish, chicken and grllled meats all year. And the reasonable prices make them superb values as well!

We're very happy to welcome back the wines of Philippe and Céline Bénézet at Domaine Turenne, who took over the family estate in 1990 and are making delicious, authentic Provençal wines. The estate has been certified organic for many years, and has a high percentage of old vines, including the unique Petite Clairette du Var dating back to 1903! The grapes are harvested by hand in the early morning and ferment at low temperatures with wild yeasts, with minimal added SO2. The 2025 Cuvée Camille Rosé is made from 40% Cinsault, 50% Grenache and 10% Syrah, grown on a terroir of limestone and sandstone debris with small stones called "Gavroches" which brings a pronounced minerality and good drainage to the vines. The wine shows a pretty, very pale pink/orange color with aromas of wild strawberry, raspberry, rose and citrus, with a hint of stone fruits as well. The palate is light and elegant with subtle berry fruits, a hint of citrus and stone, and has nice density and length. The Cuvée Aubregades Rosé is "a taste of old Provence" says winemaker Philippe Bénézet, made with 100% Grenache, very light and refreshing. The Domaine Turenne "Antoine" Blanc is an extraordinary Provençal white made with 70% Vermentino with 30% old vines of Petite Clairette du Var. Pale gold color with green hints; aromas of almond, pear, hay, lemon zest, verveine, anise...you get the idea. A lovely wine and a superb value!

Just west of Provence, at the southern tip of the Rhone valley, is the over-achieving biodynamic estate, Château Mourgues du Grès in the Costières de Nimes. From a vineyard of rolled stones over clay/limestone they produce the superb "Les Galets Rosé." The beautifully ripe and balanced 2025 is particularly delicious, showing deep cherry, wild strawberry, red currant, citrus and mint aromas - quite ripe but balanced, elegant and pretty! Give it a try...
