New Champagne Arrivals from Coustheur-Bonnard, Lamblot, and Bichery - Plus a huge Coteaux Champenois restock!
8/14/26 -
Although we are well into August, it feels like the Champagne arrivals just keep coming. Today we highlight three producers that I am really excited about alongside the biggest selection of Coteaux Champenois I have ever offered at once! This sector of the Champagne world is growing at an incredible pace and the wines have amazing depth and range in style. As you read through about the producers and wines below, remember that enjoying a special bottle from Champagne is reason enough to celebrate.
Coustheur-Bonnard
This is the inaugural New York release of Coustheur-Bonnard, from the husband and wife team of Adrien and Mathilde Coustheur (photo at top). They represent the first generation to bottle their own Champagnes, but his family has been in the Monts de Berru for decades growing just Chardonnay and selling to some of the most prestigious Champagne houses. Monts de Berru lies just North-East of Reims and is home to the Coustheur family's old vines on deep, fragmented chalk soils. For having just started making their own wines, they have
incredible patience during vinification. All wines spend 1 full year in barrel before spending 3 years sur lattes. A lot of their confidence to wait came from their friend Alexandre Lamblot, who encouraged the couple to allow for peak maturity and ripeness in the vineyard, and extra time in the cellar to make Champagnes with a finer mousse. Their 4 hectares of vineyards have been farmed organically since 2012 and are entirely planted to Chardonnay. Their lineup consists of two wines: NV Blanc de Blancs, a really classic wine with a toasty, lemon, mineral quality, as well as the limited 2021 Osmose which is a lesson in the balance of rich, toasted brioche with bright fresh citrus. We are really excited to showcase their new, delicious wines to New York.

A. Lamblot
Alexandre Lamblot farms 3.5 hectares of vines across Vrigny, Chenay, Janvry, and Geux within the Montagne de Reims. The Lamblot family has been in the area since the 1600s and while the family still makes wine under their own label, in the mid 2010s Alexandre started his small project. He released his first Champagnes in 2019, and since then he has come to great acclaim for his attention to detail both in the vineyard and cellar creating focused, complex Champagnes. What stands out most with his vines are the fairly densely planted vineyards at approximately 9,800 plants per hectare vs. the average of 8,000. Additionally, Alexandre is very focused on creating the least amount of impact on the environment as possible. He only uses smaller, light tractors that fit down the rows. He allows natural plants to grow between the vines and uses vitiforestry (see photo to the right), the planting of small trees in the vines, Alexandre's contains 100 different species in each hectare. He also has a mobile chicken coop allowing chickens to feed on the plants and fertilize the soil. All of this work in the vineyard is in conjunction with biodynamic preps. It is clear that the wines of Alexandre reveal all the immense work that goes on in the vineyard and the cellar. We are excited to offer his newest releases today!

Domaine de Bichery
Raphael and Hannah Piconnet (pictured above) are making some of the most delicious low-intervention Champagnes in the Aube. The Piconnet family has been farming vines in Champagne's most southern region for three generations, but winemaking skipped over Raphael's father, so when Raphael and his brother were ready to take over in 2015, they split the vineyards in two and began separate Domaines. Raphael immediately converted his 8.5 hectares of vines across 10 parcels into organic viticulture. He and his wife focus their winemaking on single vintage releases, with the wines vinified in a mix of stainless steel and oak. The wines are all sans soufre and Brut Nature. We are excited to share their lineup of four wines today with new 2022 releases of La Source, a blend of three grapes from all 10 parcels, Les Terres Mêlées a 100% Pinot Noir from 3 plots, Les Fontaines Rose, and their 2023 Coteaux Champenois Rouge.

All the new Coteaux Champenois!
In addition to these impeccable bubblies, I have tasted, and brought in a few new Coteaux Champenois over the past few weeks that I am just really excited about.
Ever since tasting the Champagnes of Diane Jacquinet, I have been a huge fan. I recently was introduced to her 2023 Jacquinet-Dumez Coteaux Champenois Blanc, a 100% Chardonnay fermented and aged in oak for 19 months. Notes of orange blossom with fresh baked bread and lemon zest open to a beautiful chalkiness with bright acidity and nice texture. We have the newest vintage release of 2022 Mouzon Leroux Les Fervins Coteaux Champenois Blanc, an impressive equal blend of all 7 indigenous Champagne grape varietals. I recently had a bottle of the 2020 and was blown away by the complexity and freshness here. If you have ever purchased Champagne from Chambers Street, there is a good chance you have had Ponson. Today we introduce Max's 2022 Molecule Rouge Coteaux Champenois, a 100% Pinot Noir from Sacy. I got to try it this past weekend and it was a beautiful entry into Coteaux, full of ripe red berries with a lot of freshness and energy. To round this out we also have a 100% Pinot Meunier from Laherte Freres, a delicious Chardonnay from Tellier, and the final bottle of this release from Emilien Feneuil, and more!
