Le Ragnaie, Nothin' but Net!
7/9/26 -
*Featuring the best vintages in Brunello: 2010, 2013, 2016 & 2019
Le Ragnaie is likely already on the radar of all you Sangiovese lovers. They are one of the great Brunello houses, consistently making some of our favorite wines here at Chambers Street. Riccardo Campinoti purchased the estate in 2002, and since then has escalated Le Ragnaie to be on par with the great, historic houses. 'Le Ragnaie' is a reference to the traditional nets used to catch birds once considered a culinary delicacy in Italy.
Their 23 hectares are farmed organically, fermentations are with native yeasts, and aging takes place in traditional Slavonian oak vessels. Most of the vines are high elevation in prized and historic parts of Montalcino. Riccardo uses cover crops and manure in the vineyard to avoid chemicals, resulting in perfectly healthy grapes and wines with a strong sense of place.
We have a variety of the best vintages in Montalcino today spanning 2010, 2013, 2016, 2019, and the current 2022 release of their refreshing Rosato. Riccardo Campinoti only produces single vineyard wines in certain years, and they all see the same 36 months of aging in Slavonian oak to allow individual vineyard and vintage characteristics to pop. Le Ragnaie balances the art of charming, drinkable wines, with depth and age-ability!
