Mount Etna is one of the most fascinating and exciting wine regions in Italy. There are many top estates, some that existed before Etna's early 2000's wine renaissance and some that moved into the area during that time. Now the region is in a sweet spot, with a fun diversity of growers who stood the test of time and are releasing consistently fantastic wines.

One of Etna's signatures is the abundance of very old vines. Beyond providing minerality and dimension to a wine, their deep roots can better withstand climactic variations, providing consistency vintage to vintage. High elevation (some of the highest in all of Europe!) also keep the wines vibrant and fresh. This is a category that never ceases to impress, whether I stay in to cook or take a bottle to a friend's house - I always have fun when I'm drinking Etna! Here is a tight list of our favorite Etna Rosso wines.
