Wild Arc Farm 2023 Niagara
This is all Niagara grown on Keuka Lake, hand-harvested and macerated for 24 hours before being pressed into a stainless tank, where it remains aging for 10 months until bottling. (winemaker’s note): “Niagara is a Vitis Labrusca grape, the species native to the Northeastern United States. It is widely planted across New York State, and is more often used as a table grape than a wine grape. We love the nostalgic flavors of Labrusca grapes in wine, however, and we decided to let this one shine as a still varietal wine.” We tasted this recently at the shop and it really blew me away, in that there's a distinct grape-juice nose (which I personally love) but the palate is light, crisp, dry and mineral. The finish is long and elegant, with just a hint of structure. Great acidity ties it all together.
