Vino di Anna 2024 Palmento Rosso (Arrives 7/21)
Nerello Mascalese (90%) with small percentages of Nerello Cappuccio (5%), Grenache (2%), Grecanico, Minnella Bianca and Uva Francese Bianca. The grapes are grown organically in the various high-altitude sites, and are picked and fermented as field blends, as was the tradition in the area. 40% of the bunches were thrown in the bottom of the Palmento lava-stone vats and 60% of the grapes were de-stemmed by hand on top. Fermentation is spontaneous, and the grapes were macerated for 4-5 days, being foot trodden or plunged daily. The fermenting must was then pressed and continued fermenting in qvevri, large oak casks (20hl), chestnut barrels (11hl) and a stainless steel tank to dryness. Blending took place in February 2025, and the resultant final wine was left on fine lees until bottling early April without fining or filtering. -Coeur Wine
This is the chillable red of the lineup- vibrant pomegranate and blood orange on top, with nice smoky minerality underneath.
