Valle Reale 2017 Vigneto di Popoli Montepulciano d'Abruzzo

2017 was a cool vintage in Abruzzo, giving us this single vineyard Montepulciano with its sleek, chieseled, and stony profile. This is the estate's oldest vineyard planted in the 1950's on soils rich in chalk, clay and pebbles. The wine spends 5 years aging in large tonneaux, followed by a few years of bottle aging.

Even the alcohol is low at 12.5%. An impressive wine in general, but especially under $30.
