Roddolo, Flavio 2013 Barbera d'Alba Bricco Appiani

Roddolo is a man of patience in his Bricco Appiani cellar outside of Monforte, farming there his whole life, never chemically treating the vines, fermenting spontaneously, not clarifying or filtering, and doing long aging. His wines are contemplative and calming and worth your time and attention.

The fantastic, cool, and long 2013 growing season gave Flavio a great canvas for his Barbera- and this is the current release! Blackberries and florals up front, with tertiary notes like dried leaves and earth starting to show. Graphite, rocks, with tons of soily, stony minerality underneath. This is a stunning age-worthy Barbera.
