Phelan Farm 2024 Autrement San Luis Obispo

This is a blend of 20% Pinot Noir, 40% Gamay and 40% Mondeuse, a tribute to the great wines of Savoie and in particular those of Jacques Maillet (and later Marie & Florian Curtet, who took over from Maillet around 2016 and continue to produce the same Autrement blend). It comes from Raj's cool and coastal home vineyard in Cambria, just three miles from the Pacific. You certainly get a combination of mountain fruit and maritime influence, with brambly fruit and soaring acidity that sits perfectly in balance with some of the more savory spice and herbal complexity. It shows great purity and freshness, medium/light bodied and delicious with a slight chill. It's open and beautiful now but will gain layers of complexity with several years in the cellar.
