Monterosso 2019 Terre Siciliane Etna Sisma Rosso
Vines are planted on volcanic Red Pozzolan soil composed of alternating layers of sand and pumice
intermixed with ash. Elevation is 700 meters above sea level and exposure is South-East. Very sunny with
cooling breezes brought from near-by seas.
The Sisma from Monterosso shows the diverse range of styles that the Nerello Mascalese can showcase, while the Volcano bottling is more plump and fruit-driven this cuvee is much more rugged and earthy. Leather, tobacco and dried floral notes jump out of the glass almost reminiscient of a Barolo from Serralunga or Monforte. The tannins are firm as you would expect, pair this wine with charcuterie or an lovely herbed-racked of lamb.
