Materne & Schmitt Wunschkind Riesling Trocken

The first wine our fave Thelma and Louise dynamic duo bottled. Wunschkind means wish child as in this was their wish to have their own winery and vineyards!  "From a combination of all three villages (Winningen, Kobern, and Lehmen, Knebel's neighbour) in their portfolio.  All vineyards are steep slopes or terraced vineyards and all from slate. Four to eight hour maceration on skins, natural settling by gravity, spontaneous fermentation, no chaptalization, no fining, no additions or reductions of any kind.  The wine develops 11 months on the lees in stainless steel tanks; filtered and sulphured minimally before bottling". A lovely wine with pristine notes of lemon chiffon and white rocks, terrific nerve and purity. And yes Virginia, IT'S DRY!
