2016 was a cool, classic year for Basilicata. The 'Superiore' designation requires 3 years of aging, 1 of which must be in oak. MDR is far exceeding these rules by aging for 2 years in steel, then 4 years in mostly old French oak, then back in steel and then even more bottle aging! This is Aglianico at its peak with soy, mushroom, earth, leaves, and prune.
