Ferme Saint-Martin 2022 Terres Jaunes Beaumes-de-Venise

An excellent value from Beaumes-de-Venise, 'Les Terres Jaunes' is a blend of majority Grenache with around 25% Syrah both from 40+ year-old vines grown on a unique terroir of Triassic limestone/clay soils. Organically farmed with vegetation maintained between the rows; fermented naturally with no additives, aged in concrete with very little sulfur added at bottling, this is a truly terroir-focused wine. Thomas and Sophie tell us it's their most successful wine from the estate, and it's not a surprise why! The 2022 shows nice density up front, with dark cherry and blackberry fruit with lots of spice and hints of earth. On the palate it shows more dark berry fruit along with some cracked black pepper, with a solid dose of healthy tannins that are certainly present but not overly firm. The acidity sits perfectly in balance and cuts through nicely, making this a great accompaniment with roasted or grilled meats, drinking great now or over the next 5-10 years.
