Empire Estate 2019 Dry Riesling Reserve

The Reserve Riesling comes from the east side of Seneca Lake, where the winds from Canada blow across the lake and hit the slopes of the vineyards, which are planted on clay rich soils with an average vine age of around 40 years. The cool winds contribute to the grapes' thick skins, giving this wine great intensity and aromatic complexity. This is a deeply mineral, dry, chiseled style of Riesling that is made to go the distance, although the 2019 is already showing beautifully. Soaring acidity and a firm mineral backbone give it structure and tension, a wine you could cellar for 5-10 years but really enjoyable now, particularly with classic Riesling fare.
