Du Mortier 2022 Saint-Nicolas de Bourgueil Les Sables

A lovely Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil from Domaine du Mortier, an estate doing fabulous organic/biodynamic vineyard work and natural low or no-sulfur vinifications. "Les Sables" is grown on sandy gravel soils near the Loire that produce a wine that is generally supple, light and very fruity, with aromas of small red fruits and silky, round tannins. The 2022 is particularly ripe and "gouleyant" showing a deep red/purple color and beautiful aromas of crushed raspberry and strawberry confit, violet and earth, really lovely. The palate is soft and sapid with creamy berry fruits that deepen nicely in the long finish with firm acidity and black fruits. It's a beautiful Cabernet Franc to serve quite cool over the next two years, Delicious wine! -David Lillie
