The Vigne Vecchie bottling comes from a seven hectare vineyard on the slopes of Mount Etna in the Calderara Sottana. Average age of the vineyards is between 60-80 years with some plants over 100 years old, some ungrafted, on original root stock. Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio aged in large Slavonian oak casks for about seven years, followed by a few more in the bottle.
This bottle is full of rustic fruit, mushrooms, woodsy herbs and earth with fine tannins. A true Etna red for Barolo lovers from the ageworthy 2016 vintage.
