Brovia 2022 Barolo Villero

Villero represents the most classic Barolo in the Brovia lineup. The tannins are more austere and firm, with darker, more brooding fruit on the palate. While this would typically be the Barolo to age more than the others, I found a sapidity and approachability if you choose to open it sooner. -ML

Brovia owns 1.5 hectares of old vines planted in 1961 situated at 340 meters altitude in the characterful southwest-facing cru of Villero in Castiglione Falletto. The site’s clay-limestone marl with sandy elements renders a wine of notable structure. If Rocche is an ice skater, Villero is a sprinter, and compared to Rocche’s bright red fruit, Villero leans more toward the blue and black, with an earthier spice element and a greater overall sense of solidity. -Rosenthal Wine Merchants
