Biondi 2022 Outis Rosso

Outis Rosso is a blend of 80% Nerello Mascalese and 20% Nerello Cappuccio, native grapes planted inside the volcanic craters of the Chianta and Cisterna Fuori vineyards on Mount Etna. It's an elegant style of Etna Rosso, medium/light bodied with pretty cherry fruit and a characteristic deep mineral backbone. Medium ruby in the glass, the mineral-rich, basalt soil imparts a wild, earthy complexity on the nose. There's structure and tension with good acidity, subtle tannins and hints of spice on the long, lingering finish. It's a great food wine that can be served cellar temp with meats, pastas, or even simple cheese and charcuterie.
