Arnot-Roberts 2024 Pinot Noir Peter Martin Ray Vineyard (arrives 5/20)
This is one of the most historically significant Pinot Noir vineyards in California, planted in the early 1940s and one of the first plantings of the grape in the state. Many of the Pinot clones you'll find in California and Oregon have come from this vineyard, which was replanted in 1979 and sits at about 1400' in elevation. This is a textured and supple Pinot with fine tannins, lush fruit and great acidity while maintaining perfect balance. There is some dark cherry fruit and hints of spice with a long finish, with a ferrous mineral streak that adds structure. This is delicious now but will continue to age nicely for another 5-10 years or more if you have patience. An iconic site and an incredible wine that hits all the right notes. JD
