Alexandre Hote 2024 Tavel

A rather unassuming bottle, with it's simple label, there is nothing unassuming about this stellar wine from Alexandre Hote!  From a parcel of 'galet roulés' (the same type as in Chateauneuf-du-Pape) over a bedrock of clay and limestone, the blend here is 65% Grenache and 35% Cinsault, from vines planted in the 80s. Plenty of spice and vibrant, juicy fruit on the nose and palate, great material in the mid-palate, and mineral cut in the finish. An altogether fantastic bottling that is a great introduction to this "new" producer from the region.  -EL
