COZs 2022 VP Vital

100% Vital from the limestone-rich soils of the Vinha da Pena vineyard (planted 1982) in the Sierra de Montejunto, 15 km from the Atlantic. After 2 days of non-fermentative maceration on the skins in large casks, the wine is pressed into neutral Burgundy barrels, where it undergoes primary fermentation, malolactic, and then 11 months of further aging. Golden in color, the wine's texture features finer tannins, minerality and creaminess, as opposed to grippiness. The 2022 is distinctly floral compared to other vintages, but not without generous quince and peach fruit on the palate. Elegant, serious and approachable all at once.
