The Vigne Vecchie bottling comes from a seven hectare vineyard on the slopes of Mount Etna in the Calderara Sottana. Average age of the vineyards is between 60-80 years with some plants over 100 years old, some ungrafted, on original root stock. A blend of Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio.
Aged in large Slavonian oak casks (50-70HL) for about seven years!
A touch lighter, more elegant than the 2015 vintage. Fine tannin, red fruit, and some bright floral notes. There is structure and tannin but fine, sweet, silky tannin.
