Lamoresca 2023 Elsa Rosso

Elsa is a blend of 3 different grape varieties on 3 different terroirs. The Nerello Mascalese (70%) grows in a very hard and salty clay substrate. The Frappato (15%) and Nero d'Avola (15%) grow in sandy soil and limestone. Elsa is the heartiest red from Lamoresca, with fine tannic structure leaning more towards an Etna Rosso. Bright red fruit, pink peppercorn, licorice and spice with very fine but broad tannins sneaking up in the finish, making this wine a flexible pairing with anything from Sicilian beef involtini to pasta alla norma.

The wine rests for an additional year in concrete tanks, followed by two years in the bottle. Minimal added sulfur and no filtering or fining.
