Scholium Project 2016 1MN Cinsault

Cinsault from the old vines at the famed Bechtold Vineyard, planted in 1870 on its own roots in sandly loam soils. This is a site that produces some of the most consistently great Cinsault, with great depth but always fresh and open. This is one of the more unique examples we've tried: savory, spicy and complex on the nose with wild berry fruit and dried herbs. There's a kiss of tannin and bright acidity that holds it together, with secondary and tertiary notes starting to show themselves. A great food wine that develops in the glass, try it with anything from braised pork chops or chicken to hearty stews.
