This vineyard has been monopolised by and also the home to Roagna's Barolo estate since 1989. Its 7 hectares under vine is the largest parcel that the family farms, up to 6 different micro plots can be isolated here with differences in vine age and soil composition. Nebbiolo vines for the wine are 25-50 years of age, fermentation lasts ten days in large wood casks. They ferment with a pied de cuvee made from their indigenous yeasts. They then use the technique of submerged cap -- which can last 60-75 days. A heady bouquet of cherry, leather, underbrush, licorice are tightly wound. A rugged wine that at the moment is tamed by its spicy finish and lively acidity that tugs at the palate. Wait a few years before drinking then enjoy until 2045.
