Madonna delle Grazie 2025 Basilicata Bianco Leuconoe
Leuconoe means clear mind in Basilicata dialect, a perfect name for this wine. Crystal clear in color, a sign of a good harvest as they were able to direct press Aglianico grapes without a trace of pink to be found. Aglianico's signature volcanic and stony minerality is on full display here. White peach, lemon, and grapefruit too all in a weightless body with refreshing acidity. It's very fun to have a blanc de noirs Aglianico! The grapes come from a small 1.5 hectare parcel at 500 meters of elevation with deep volcanic clay wiht limestone cobbles.
Lucania is also the ancient name for Basilicata! When Paolo Latoracca is at the shop for the in-store tasting I plan to ask his if this is a coincidence or intentional.
