Fossile 2023 Chinon "Le Rouge"

Domaine du Fossile is the new name for Domaine Patrick Lambert in Chinon, under new owners Moira Smullen and Chris Marshall. Monsieur Lambert stays on as winemaker/consultant and Matthieu Baudry has provided essential advice so this team seems on track to make great wines!  Moira and Chris have combined the "Gourmandise" and "Les Deuzelles" into a single cuvée called "Le Rouge." A great success in 2023 (as is the Baudry "Les Granges") This bottling is denser and more concentrated than the 'Gourmandises' but just as pleasurable and easy-drinking. The nose has notes of blackberry and raspberry bramble, freshly turned soil, and savory herbs, and the on the palate the wine is juicy with supple tannins. Enjoy over the next 2 - 3 years!
