Dard & Ribo 2023 Saint-Joseph Rouge 'Le Pitrou'
(1 btl limit please) 100% Syrah (1940s-1950s Syrah) from 0.55 hectare on sandy granite soils on Pitrou north of village of St-Jean-de-Muzols, Pitrou their name after old owner, is L’Echirol on the map, 67% whole bunch fermentation, 2-3 week vinification, pumping overs, aged used 600-litre oak casks 10-12 months, unfined, unfiltered. "dark red; sweetly mulled red fruits, crushed raspberry, lead the nose, has a hint of rubber, a little reduction, so can be decanted. The palate has a curvy, juicy opening, soaked red cherries-griottes that persist; its shape is inviting, its feel also, while late snap from the whole bunches and their stems helps it – spark from that source. This will go very well with lamb, has a few herbal implications. Its juice sustains with sure depth, from within, good, while the length is very sure. There’s an appealing tinkle in the fruit late on." Drink until 2042
