Pépière 2022 Muscadet Cru Château Thébaud (Arrives 3/17)

(Arrives 3/17) The Cru Château Thébaud comes from old vines in vineyards with great terroir on slopes overlooking the river Maine, primarily in the "Clos des Morines." The granite here (Granite de Château Thébaud, oddly enough) is fissured and permeable by the vine roots which have access to water during dry spells and absorb micro-nutrients along the way. There is a thin topsoil of sandy clay. 2009, 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2019 here were among the best of the vintage in Muscadet and the 2022 will stand out as well due to the wonderful combination of elegance, minerality and ripeness. This beautiful wine from a very warm vintage shows a quite subtle and elegant nose with floral, herbal, citrus, pear and stone aromas. The palate is full, round and ripe with terrific length - it will be delicious young due to the excellent ripeness with low alcohol and bright acidity, but those willing to wait 15 years will be amply rewarded...
